We know you have a problem
Have you ever expended hours explaining all the characteristics of your system to somebody? It may be a new or current customer, colleague or business partner. There you are, you make drawings, explain things over and over, give tons data, point out similar cases, …
And yet again… nothing. The other person cannot ‘see’ it.
Unit 040 and Dimenco: we are here to help
Meet Digital Twins and Simulated Reality, a collaboration between Prespective and Dimenco.
A Digital Twin (DT) is an identical visual copy of your system. This copy runs in a virtual world where your ability to interact is almost limitless. Some potential hazards in your system? all is safe in the virtual world. Worry about costly errors? No dramatic consequences happen with a digital twin.
Prespective is the software platform that makes this boundless interaction possible. The platform is an interactive virtual test environment, in which users can continuously test their systems: visual, mechanical, control software, human interaction, and diverse scenarios.
This test-phase is done before the system is being built in hardware. Thereby acting as an advanced virtual prototype and reducing TCO up to 30%.
With Prespective, designers with different backgrounds can create a common model so they can easily communicate with each other. By eliminating the need for a complete restructuring of the development process, they have a virtual product they can work on in parallel, allowing them to create prototypes both fast and cheap. Just as easily, they can use it in their own department to virtually verify the assumptions they made in their model. And if they want, they can already start the basic iteration after the first design brainstorm.
And now that you have the best tool for simulation and virtual prototyping, you need the best tool to visualize the most complex and elaborated systems. In the real world, objects appear on 3D because the human brain combines what your eyes can see. But not only that, when you move around objects in real life, the perspective changes. A normal display just cannot do that, but a Simulated Reality (SR), device as, for example, our development kit, can do exactly that. So, while using your digital twin, it is possible to look around parts, components and, when feasible, see the real dimensions.
And you can do this without putting and removing a headset or any wearable. You can keep working as usual and just use your body as you will do when looking around at a physical object. No need of wasting time switching back between rotation, translation or any mysteriously hidden mode. Select your control tool, and then look around as you would do in the real world.
Digital Twins and Simulated Reality: showcasing heroes, training partners.
We know that the final word is always given by our customers. DT and SR provides you with the best showcasing tool in the world: it does not matter how difficult or unexpected is the question, DT allows to simulate it and SR allows to show it as you would do with the actual product. Do you wonder how close the panel number 2560 is to the moving arm number 50 under a load of 500kg? Just simulate it and watch it through the display as you will be there. No more inaccessible places, no more dangerous test that cannot be done.
And the only thing that is requested from the customer is to sit in front of a display. No wearables, no need of complex blueprints or CAD images. Just sit down and experience the virtual world.
Let’s not forget about training people: in fact, what is the point in making something if nobody can use it? Yet a training with production machines gives a difficult dilemma: you need people to know how to use the machine, but untrained operators can cause problems with serious consequences. None of this is a problem with DTs and SR. The virtual machines behave as the physical system and they can be manipulated by the same controllers. SR devices allow to have a natural view of the real operator environment without wearables, so the trainee can use real control modules at the same time as being in the virtual world.
