Who are we?
Dimenco is an ambitious and fast-growing Glasses-Free 3D company located in Veldhoven, The Netherlands. Dimenco was founded in 2010 and spun out from Royal Philips Electronics and was acquired in 2015 by Kangde Xin Composite Material, a Chinese Shenzen listed company.
Dimenco Glasses-Free 3D technology is based on applying an advanced optical layer in front of the LCD screen. The optical layer sends out different information to each eye, thereby creating the perception of 3D.

With shareholder KDX, Dimenco is working towards establishing a standard for “Simulated Reality” – a step beyond Virtual Reality, whereby helmets or glasses no longer are required to undergo the experience. From a technical perspective, SR consists of an interactive application (game, visualizations, computer graphics, live feeds from stereo cameras, etc.), 3D displays, eye-tracking to optimize the rendering of autostereoscopic content on those 3D displays, audio, interaction with the application by hand movements, tactile feedback and more.
For this domain Dimenco is looking for experienced software engineers for the tasks are described below (certain tasks may be combined or shared, if applicable):
Hands-on system architect / experienced software engineer with strong affinity with system architectural topics
To structure the further development of the eco-system for this Simulated Reality initiative (to involve application and content makers, suppliers of interaction sub-systems, various electronics markets and other relevant possible stakeholders) and to start with a standardization process for the concept, a thorough system architecture needs to be defined. This architecture includes a detailed and deep-level break-down of the different functions and sub-systems, interfaces between these functions on application level and operating systems, building on industry standards for communication, computation, signal processing and interoperability. The role is that of a hands-on and practical approach, not limited to high-level "broad pictures". Starting with an initial outline by Dimenco/KDX, this system architecture needs to be worked out with the relevant stakeholders.
Hands-on software engineer to integrate and build SR systems
For development and demonstration purposes, Dimenco builds SR systems, combining 3D autostereoscopic displays, eye-tracking, audio, VR and gaming applications and a variety of sensors and actuators to integrate other senses (hand movement input, tactile feedback, etc.) into the experience. Various sub-systems are not always fully developed, or interfaces may still in beta stage. There is work to be done to reduce and control integral latency issues (inputs, processors, engines, actuators). The role here is to "glue together" the various sub-systems (“merging the senses") and find solutions for not yet defined or implemented architectural solutions, on which the software architects works.
Calibration tool engineer
Developing and deploying calibration set-ups for our auto-stereoscopic displays and eye-tracking sub-systems, for both our own development lab as well as for production sites elsewhere. A solid base of core algorithms has been developed over time, but this needs to be extended, tested, documented, productized, provided with a suitable user interface, etc.
A core technology for Dimenco is eye-tracking, required to provide the best "depth experience" to the users of over 3D and SR systems. The current team on this topic consists of four people, addressing analysis and adaptation of an industry standard corpus of algorithms for eye tracking, competitive benchmarking, neural networks training of detection and tracking of eyes, hardware acceleration and more. The role here is development work in increasing the accuracy and robustness of the intended solution and possible accelerations by a "scale-down" of the algorithmic base.
Our ideal candidates have:
- Experience in software engineering;
- A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mathematics, Computer Science or related degree;
- The skill to implement applications with the most recent techniques;
- Good and neat code;
- Well grounded knowledge of C++ and OpenCV;
- Good communication skills;
- Fluent English language skills, Dutch is a pre;
- Accommodation in Eindhoven region (or willingness to relocate).
